47 Workers Fired After Demonstration

Kompas is reporting that as many of 47 workers at PT Nasional Interindo Metal in Mojokerto, East Java were fired for holding a demonstration demanding holiday pay, which they have a right to based on labor regulations put in place in 1994.  The company denies the firing had anything to do with the demonstration.

Front Nasional Perjuangan Buruh Indonesia (FNPBI), the organization representing the workers, has put contacts on their website for those who would like to send messages of solidarity to the local union or messages to the company in support of the workers.
